Simple ways to lower your fat intake is by selecting low-fat varieties of your favorite foods or by choosing low-fat or reduced fat milk products.
Eat More Fruits and Vegetables
The fact that vegetables are healthy for the mind and body has been known for thousands of years. Fruits and vegetables are full of vitamins and nutrients and are believed to reduce the risk of prostate cancer. Increase the amount of fruits and vegetables you eat every day by including an additional serving during a meal or by snacking on them throughout the day.Additionally, tomatoes and tomato products are high in anticancer substances. Pizza sauce and even ketchup includes this valuable substance. Fruits and vegetables are healthy, tasty, and could potentially lower your risk of prostate cancer.
Limit the amount of dairy you eat
Though no definitive way to avoid prostate cancer has been found, studies have shown that men who drink and eat less dairy products have a lower risk of prostate cancer than men who eat these products frequently. Though results have been mixed, lowering the amount of cheese, yogurt, and milk consumed can have beneficial effects on your health, especially if you alter your diet with low-fat or reduced-fat versions of your favorite foods.
Avoid Flax Seed Oil
Flax seed oil should be avoided at all costs, as this particular oil can stimulate the growth of prostate cancer. Instead of flax seed oil, try using olive oil instead, which is rich in in vitamin E.
Eat more fish
Fresh fish is full of omega-3 fatty acid, which, although it has the word “fatty” in its name, is very healthy. To reduce the risk of prostate cancer, try increasing the amount of fresh fish in your diet. Fresh fish includes salmon, sardines, mackerel, and more. Ideally, these fish should not be fried, but instead baked, grilled, or poached. For the best results, try to eat fresh fish multiple times a week.
Drink green tea
Studies have shown that men who drink green tea have a reduced risk of prostate cancer than men who don’t drink green tea. Green tea contains antioxidant-containing polyphenols which can help prevent chemical damage to cells.
Reduce your alcohol intake
Men who drink several alcoholic drinks each day have shown to have an increased risk in developing prostate cancer. If you drink beer or any other alcoholic beverage, it’s important to place a limit on the amount you drink. Ideally, if you must drink, try to limit yourself to one or two drinks per day.
Eat less red meat
Cooking meat at high temperatures creates the same carcinogens that are found in tobacco smoke. When eating meat, do not char or blacken the skin or meat. Better yet, try eating fish next time you grill! As already mentioned, fish is full of omega-3 fatty acid, a healthy compound that reduces the risk of prostate cancer.
